TBOX OLIVER CAST.jpg

A few members of the United Methodist Church of Floral Park founded Theatre Box in 1980, as a means of offering fellowship and entertainment for both the parishioners and the community. Since that time it has grown to become a True Community Theatre group with members coming from as far away as Brooklyn and Babylon.

Theatre Box has produced a wide array of shows including musicals like Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, South Pacific, and Anything Goes To Dramas, “Twelve” Angry Men and Steel Magnolias. Theatre Box has also done some fine comedies such as Rumors, The Odd Couple, and Don’t Drink the Water.

November 2008, Chuck O'Hara a seasoned member of Theatre Box, produced and starred in "Miracle on 34th Street". The attendance for these shows were recordbreaking.   June of 2009 Theatre Box presented "Oliver" and once again had a wonderful show featuring a large cast of children. And on August 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th of 2009 Theatre Box performed "The Sunshine Boys".

Recent productions include “Born Yesterday”, “Murder on the Nile”, “The Dining Room”, and “By Any Other Name” the first original Theatre Box production written by long time member Claudia Wilson.

Theatre Box donates a large percentage of the profits to the church while only maintaining an operating budget for the next production.

They are constantly looking for new members to either perform on stage, or work behind the scenes. Come join them for an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. If you would like to see more click on www.theatrebox.org.
